وأشارت بيانات رابطة السيارات الأمريكية إلى أن متوسط سعر البنزين بلغ يوم الخميس 3.88 دولار للجالون.

وقفزت العقود الآجلة لخام غرب تكساس الوسيط الأمريكي بنحو 30 دولاراً بما يعادل 43%، إذ زادت من 67.02 دولار للبرميل إلى 96.14 دولار خلال نفس الفترة. وبلوغ عتبة الأربعة دولارات للغالون، الذي لم يحدث منذ أغسطس 2022، يزيد الضغط على المستهلكين الذين يعانون بالفعل من وطأة التضخم.

وصار ارتفاع أسعار الوقود في المحطات صداعاً سياسياً لترمب وحزبه الجمهوري الذي سيبدأ قريباً حملته الانتخابية للحفاظ على أغلبيته بفارق ضئيل في الكونغرس الأمريكي في انتخابات التجديد النصفي في نوفمبر الماضي.

The average retail gasoline price in the United States rose by about 90 cents per gallon, or more than 30%, since the United States and Israel attacked Iran at the end of February.

Data from the American Automobile Association indicated that the average gasoline price reached $3.88 per gallon on Thursday.

Futures contracts for West Texas Intermediate crude oil surged by about $30, equivalent to 43%, increasing from $67.02 per barrel to $96.14 during the same period. The crossing of the $4 per gallon threshold, which hasn’t happened since August 2022, adds pressure on consumers who are already suffering from the burden of inflation.

The rise in fuel prices at the pumps has become a political headache for Trump and his Republican Party, which will soon begin its election campaign to maintain its slim majority in the U.S. Congress in the midterm elections last November.
